Malaysian Goverment Pushes For Innovation: How to Benefit From Tax Incentives
During the recent Budget announcement for the fiscal year 2010, our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak voiced his views on the change of Malaysia from a manufacturing country to one of a high-income economy.
“We need a strong foundation in research, development and commercialization (R&D&C) activities.” Datuk Seri Najib said.

Updates on UBS Corporation Sdn Bhd vs UBS AG Case
The appeal by UBS Corporation Sdn Bhd was allowed by the Court of Appeal on 1 April 2009. The Judges, comprising of Dato’ Raus, Dato’ Hamid Embong and Dato’ Ahmad Maarop, stated that they would write a judgment but none is available to date.
The amendment of UBS Corporation’s trade mark to the “UBS” letters alone was allowed in the appeal. UBS AG did not appeal further. UBS Corporation was allowed to revert back to the amended trade mark of ‘UBS’ per se.
Regulations to Bangladesh’s Trade Mark Act 2009 to be Drafted by KASS International
In view of his experience in the IP field and the depth of his knowledge, Mr. P. Kandiah has been engaged by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to draft the Regulations to the Trade Mark Act 2009 for Bangladesh. The KASS Team Takes Up Mandarin Lessons
The KASS team recently commenced a 10-week basic spoken Mandarin course, in line with its mission to provide ongoing training to its staff. The lessons, conducted twice weekly, will hopefully enable the staff to communicate more effectively with our Chinese-speaking clients and associates.
KASS Engaged to Work With the Largest Thai Plastic Container Manufacturer
KASS International was engaged to draft and prosecute world wide patent applications for two inventions by the largest Thai plastic container manufacturer, located in Bangkok. The same company used the services of KASS to obtain international patents for its earlier inventions which are now coming to the end of their patent life.
